PROMO CD’S - REASONSWHY THEY ARE REJECTED

WRONG MUSIC TO THE WRONG STATION
So you failed to do your research to find out what
genre's the targeted radio station works with? Your
promo CD will definitely end up in the trash. You cannot
take your pop or dancehall music to a station that has
jazz , soul, and classic R&B as it's music format.
BADGERING THE PRESENTER
If you are lucky enough to have your song(s) considered
or received by a radio personality, never badger them.
Quit calling and emailing every day! If you do that, you
run a high risk of turning yourself into a nuisance and
that is a turn-off!
THE MUSIC SUCKS
I'm sure this point explains itself! Just because you have
a few songs, and have even rehearsed them a few times
and even recorded, doesn't mean you are ready for
radio promotion just yet. It takes talent and hard work to
come out with good material, so take the time to be at
least 'good'.
NO CONTACT INFO
Believe it or not there are still artistes who fail to send the
needed information along with their submissions.
Always include your name, mailing address, phone
number, email address and personal website if you
have one on every submission, even if you've sent to the
intended recipient before. Do not fail this step.
SONGS NOT WELL TAGGED
If you send a song file electronically and the file name is
titled something like "song01.mp3″ you create a
problem for the handler because there is no title. And if
you drop off or mail a CD with a blank label, you leave
us at a loss again. It's very simple; always title your
song(s)!
Well, to the best of my knowledge, this are the ones I can
come up with for now. Cheers!
